This vintage PILOT Raden fountain pen, dating from around the 1970s, is a beautiful example of PILOT’s early use of traditional Japanese decorative craftsmanship.
The dark lacquered body is delicately inlaid with pieces of natural raden mother of pearl. Under changing light, the shell reveals beautiful iridescent shades of blue, green, purple, and silver, creating a striking contrast against the deep black background.
With approximately half a century of history, this pen reflects an earlier period of PILOT craftsmanship and has a distinctly different character from modern Namiki raden creations. Vintage PILOT raden fountain pens from this era have become increasingly difficult to find, making this a particularly attractive piece for collectors of Japanese fountain pens and traditional lacquer work.
Condition: This is a vintage pre owned pen and may show minor signs of age, use, or storage. Pen only. No original box or other accessories are included. Due to its age, long term functionality cannot be guaranteed.
