Taccia's master lacquer artisans vividly render the breathtaking scene of golden-pink dawn spreading across the morning sky, capturing a fleeting, luminous moment in exquisite handiwork.
Artisan Techniques
The ebonite barrel begins with a pink raw lacquer base. Artisans intricately inlay strips of pink mother-of-pearl (Raden) and white eggshell (Rankaku) to evoke the soft glow of early morning light. Through multiple layers of lacquer application and careful polishing — a meticulous process spanning several months — the barrel is adorned using three of Japan's most revered lacquer arts:
Maki-e — sprinkled gold/silver lacquer decoration
Raden — mother-of-pearl inlay
Rankaku — eggshell inlay
The clip is also embellished with the Rankaku Maki-e technique. The grip section is hand-painted with the artist's signature and the pen's individual serial number.
