The Sailor Susutake King Eagle is an exceptionally rare fountain pen combining century-old Japanese smoked bamboo, traditional mother-of-pearl craftsmanship, and Sailor’s legendary specialty nib technology.

The pen body is crafted from natural Susutake, or smoked bamboo, traditionally sourced from old Japanese houses where bamboo has been exposed to smoke for decades or even over a century. This natural aging process creates beautiful shades of amber and deep brown, with distinctive patterns that make every pen truly one of a kind.

One of the most distinctive features of this particular example is the beautiful natural mother-of-pearl inlays decorating both ends of the pen. The delicate iridescence of the shells changes subtly under different lighting conditions, creating an elegant contrast with the rich, dark tones of the aged bamboo.

This fountain pen is fitted with Sailor’s extraordinarily rare 21K King Eagle nib.

The King Eagle is one of the most technically sophisticated specialty nibs in Sailor’s history. Developed by legendary nib master Nobuyoshi Nagahara, its intricate triple-layered structure is meticulously constructed and ground to produce extraordinary line variation. Depending on the writing angle, it can create everything from fine lines to exceptionally broad strokes while maintaining generous and consistent ink flow.

The King Eagle represents one of Nagahara’s greatest achievements in specialty nib craftsmanship, making it highly sought after among serious Sailor collectors.

Combining naturally aged Susutake bamboo, elegant mother-of-pearl decorations, and the legendary triple-layered King Eagle nib, this fountain pen represents a remarkable piece of Japanese craftsmanship and Sailor’s heritage.

Important Notice: As Susutake is a natural bamboo material, fine cracks or splitting may develop over time due to changes in temperature, humidity, or natural aging. Please avoid direct sunlight, extreme temperature changes, and excessively dry conditions. Buyers should understand and accept these potential characteristics of natural bamboo before purchasing.
