The PILOT Seigaiha is a classic fountain pen that brings together one of Japan’s most recognizable traditional patterns, Hira Maki-e craftsmanship, and the substantial character of a brass body.
Seigaiha: waves of good fortune
Seigaiha, meaning blue ocean waves, is a traditional Japanese motif composed of overlapping semicircular waves extending continuously across a surface. Its rhythmic pattern evokes gentle waves spreading endlessly across a calm sea and has long been associated with peace, tranquility, and enduring good fortune.
Golden waves on deep lacquer
The pen is constructed from brass and finished with Urushi lacquer. The Seigaiha pattern is rendered using traditional Hira Maki-e, with finely detailed golden waves flowing continuously across the deep lacquer surface. Under changing light, the gold decoration reveals delicate brilliance and visual depth, while the brass construction gives the pen a substantial, reassuring weight in the hand.
14K gold nib
Fitted with a 14K gold nib, the pen offers a smooth and comfortable writing experience suited to regular use.
A distinctive PILOT collectible
With its deep lacquer finish, elegant golden waves, solid brass construction, and traditional Hira Maki-e decoration, the PILOT Seigaiha is a beautiful example of Japanese craftsmanship and a distinctive collectible from PILOT’s earlier Maki-e fountain pen collection.
