The Pilot Custom 845 Urushi “Konjo” (Deep Blue) was introduced in November 2025 as a new addition to Pilot’s prestigious Custom 845 collection. Following the classic Black and Vermilion Red versions, this elegant deep blue finish represents the third color option in the series.
“Konjo” (紺青) refers to a rich, deep shade of blue in Japanese. The pen features a sophisticated blue lacquer finish that reveals subtle variations in color depending on the lighting, creating a beautiful sense of depth and elegance.
The barrel and cap are crafted from traditional ebonite (hard rubber) and meticulously finished using the Japanese Roiro Urushi lacquer technique. Through multiple stages of lacquer application and careful polishing, the surface achieves an exceptionally smooth, glossy, and refined appearance. This craftsmanship continues Pilot’s long tradition of applying Japanese lacquer to ebonite writing instruments, dating back to 1925.
The fountain pen is equipped with Pilot’s renowned 18K gold No. 15 two-tone nib, offering an exceptionally smooth and comfortable writing experience. It uses a cartridge/converter filling system and is compatible with the Pilot CON-70N converter, providing generous ink capacity for everyday writing.
The Custom 845 has long been one of Pilot’s most respected high-end fountain pens, combining traditional Japanese lacquer craftsmanship with modern precision engineering. The introduction of the Konjo color brings a fresh and distinctive character to this iconic model while preserving its timeless design.
With its deep blue Urushi finish, handcrafted elegance, and outstanding writing performance, the Pilot Custom 845 Urushi Konjo is an exceptional writing instrument that beautifully represents the heritage of Japanese fountain pen craftsmanship.
Please note: The Konjo Blue is a regular production color introduced in 2025, not a numbered limited edition.
