The Namiki Toyohina Tomimoto is part of the Nippon Art Collection, inspired by the celebrated ukiyo-e beauty portraits of Edo-period master Kitagawa Utamaro.
Toyohina Tomimoto was a famous geisha of the Edo period and one of the renowned beauties portrayed by Utamaro. Her elegant figure and traditional kimono capture the refined beauty and graceful atmosphere characteristic of his bijin-ga portraits.
The design is recreated on the deep black lacquer body using traditional Hira Maki-e, with delicate colors and gold details bringing the classic ukiyo-e image to life with the warm luster of Japanese lacquer.
Crafted by artisans of Namiki’s renowned Kokkokai group, the pen is fitted with a No.5 14K gold nib.
Combining Utamaro’s iconic ukiyo-e imagery with traditional Japanese Maki-e craftsmanship, Toyohina Tomimoto is a distinctive expression of Edo-period culture within the Namiki Nippon Art Collection.
