The Nakaya Ryogiri features a beautifully minimalist, clipless design with flat ends on both the cap and barrel. Its clean silhouette allows the urushi finish itself to become the main focus of the pen.
This particular model is finished in Midori Ishime, one of Nakaya’s distinctive textured urushi techniques. A rich blue green urushi is combined with kanshitsu powder to create an irregular, stone like surface. Through repeated layers of urushi, curing, and careful finishing, the surface develops a natural texture reminiscent of stone paving in a traditional Japanese garden.
The color has a beautiful turquoise character, shifting subtly between green and blue depending on the light. Because the Ishime pattern is created by hand, the distribution and texture vary naturally from pen to pen, making each piece unique.
Crafted from ebonite and finished entirely by hand in Japan, the Ryogiri Midori Ishime is a particularly elegant expression of Nakaya’s traditional urushi craftsmanship.
