The Dorsal Fin Version 2 is one of Nakaya's most distinctive urushi fountain pens. Inspired by the elegant lines of a Japanese sword, its unique dorsal fin design extends across both the cap and barrel, creating a sculptural and instantly recognizable silhouette. The raised form also helps prevent the pen from rolling on a desk.
The body is crafted from ebonite and finished in Nakaya's classic Aka-tamenuri urushi. Deep layers of urushi allow the warm red base to subtly emerge, particularly along the edges and raised dorsal fin. With time and use, the finish gradually becomes more translucent, revealing greater depth and character unique to natural urushi.
The pen is fitted with a 14K gold nib, offering the precise and refined writing experience for which Nakaya is known.
