The Nakaya Decapod ST Midori Tamenuri combines the distinctive ten-sided form of the Decapod with the depth and beauty of traditional Japanese Urushi craftsmanship.
The Decapod ST features ten straight, precisely defined facets running along the body of the pen. Unlike the twisted profile of the Decapod TW, the ST emphasizes clean, continuous lines, giving the pen an elegant and architectural appearance. The carefully lacquered and polished edges interact beautifully with light, highlighting the unique geometry of the ten-sided body.
The pen is finished in Nakaya’s distinctive Midori Tamenuri, or green Tamenuri. Layers of translucent dark Urushi are applied over a green base, creating a deep and understated appearance when new. With continued use and the passage of time, the green beneath gradually becomes more visible, particularly along the edges and ridges of the ten facets.
This gradual transformation is one of the most fascinating characteristics of Tamenuri. Rather than remaining visually unchanged, the lacquer continues to develop over time, creating a unique appearance shaped by its owner and years of use.
